Our clinic support
We primarily staff volunteer abortion support shifts at Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington Carol Whitehill Moses Center and Falls Church Healthcare Center. On a patient-by-patient basis, DCDC doulas may also support people having abortions at other clinics in the DC area.
If your client has an appointment at one of our partner clinics and would like abortion support, email dcdoulasforchoice@gmail.com to confirm whether a doula is on shift.
Eligibility
- The client is in the DC metro area or traveling to the DC metro area for abortion care.
- The client is seeking emotional, physical, or informational support. We can help connect people to financial and practical support, but we do not provide transportation, lodging, childcare, meals, or funding directly.
Information to include
Before contacting DCDC, confirm that the client is comfortable connecting with us and having their information shared. Please include:
- The client’s contact information.
- The support they are looking for and any preferences for their doula.
- Gestational age, if known.
- Any other information that may help us match them with a doula.
- Appointment clinic, date, and time, if available. An appointment is not required before seeking support.
What happens next
We aim to respond to referral requests within 24–48 hours. Because we are a volunteer collective, we may not always have someone available for every need or timeframe, but we will reply with additional resources and guidance.

DC Abortion Fund
The DC Abortion Fund (DCAF) provides financial support for people who lack the resources to access abortion care. DCAF serves people throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as people traveling here for care.
National Abortion Federation
The National Abortion Federation (NAF) offers a toll-free hotline with unbiased information about abortion and other resources, including financial assistance.
